Music that's pure buttery goodness
I've bought a bit of new music lately but the ones of note are Some Devil by Dave Matthews, Speakerboxxx / The Love Below by Outkast, and Bare by Annie Lennox.
Some Devil - Dave Matthews:
This is Dave's first solo album and since I've been a big fan of the Dave Matthews Band, I decided I had to try it out. The whole album pushes different angles you realize Dave is experimenting with. They work well and overall the album feels like strong and not like some forced production. It's easy music which requires very little effort to get into. The songs I enjoyed the most are: Dodo, Gravedigger, Stay or Leave, and Oh. Some Devil was also a good track that was most representative of his experimentation.
Speakerboxxx / The Love Below - Outkast:
I've liked a lot of Outkast music even though I don't listen to much hip-hop. It comes off with grace and style that you don't expect from hip-hop music packaged for suburban America. There are a ton of nicely laid tracks on the double cd set and it's not hard to go through both discs without realizing the time just flew by. They're getting a lot of press and the public is eating the album up as well.
Bare - Annie Lennox:
What can I say? I've been a fan of Annie Lennox since the 80's. The album definitely has a lot of poppy flare to it. Annie's voice is just one that seems to tug at your soul forcing you to sit there and really listen for a minute. There seems to be an even balance of melodic slow tracks as well as Sade-esque tracks. This happened to be a cd Kris wanted that I ended up taking a real good listen to. It seems like it's warming up more and more.
Note: I don't claim to be a music critic. I'm far from it because I'm really easy to please but I have very diverse tastes. I'll leave you with some lyrics from Dave Matthews' song "Oh" from Some Devil.

Now what you really need to do is get some Guided By Voices action going. Forget about the so-called lyrics of Dave Matthews. What you need to do is get guided by bob. He wont stear you wrong.

I believe I'm waiting for some samples... I knew this huge GBV fan but he has yet to "put out" and give me some insight as to what I'm missing.
