What it takes to get more young readership

Dallas Observer | dallasobserver.com | News : Filler Curse of Youth,Two new Dallas papers are keeping tabs on the little futhermuckers,By Eric Celeste The Alternative Dallas connection for events, event listings, music reviews, CD reviews, and all of the latest alternative news from the Dallas area.

I'm not sure what to make of the story above. Papers seem to be wanting to grab more young readership but they aren't developing or approaching younger readers in the way they need to be approached. Why do younger readers decide to read or not read the daily paper? Is it because they don't have time? Or the writing isn't "direct and crude" like The Daily Show?

It's ironic though that younger readers read blogs
every day but don't read the paper if the problem is time. It's not about time, it's about giving people what they want and not assuming you *know* what they want.
