Dell 2405FPW for $860 - Deal ending 3/6/05

For my birthday and as a graduation gift I decided I wanted to get a large flat panel monitor. Initially I was going to get the HP L2335 23" but found a deal with Dell small business for the Dell 2405FPW 24" flat panel which has dvi, vga, svideo and component video in and a 16ms response time all for $860 plus sales tax including 2 day shipping. Delivery time is a week to week and a half out now.

The deal ends 3/6/05 so if you're interested in it, I'll give you the Dell rep's contact extension and information you'll need to get in on it. Please reply to the thread and use a valid email address, if you'd like to hide it from the public put www.twentybelow.com as your "url" in the comment field.

So long Chris Portman

Update: Martin Ross spoke with Chris' mom and said that his death was an accident. Someone else has said according to the family that it was due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Regardless he's no longer with us.

A friend of mine apparently decided to take his own life. Chris has unnecessarily reminded us of our own mortality. I had known Chris for what seems to be a very long time, at least 7-8 years. He didn't talk a lot but I remember asking for some technical help and talking to him randomly on irc.

Every second that passes this seems more and more unreal. I've talked to a certain group of friends pretty much daily over the last 5 years and before that it was monthly. Chris was part of the group that has become a permanent part of my life. He'll be missed that's for sure.

21:50 cjp was last seen on IRC 8 days, 3 hours, 15 minutes and 22 seconds ago, saying: wow that sucks [Tue Feb 22 18:34:55 2005]

"iPod users are stupid" -- Napster CEO

MacMischief - Get Your Daily Dose - Napster CEO calls iPod users "stupid"

The Napster CEO must have read the Cluetrain Manifesto because it says "Treat your customers like they are numbers." Oh wait, no it doesn't.

The 2nd of the 95 theses reads, "Markets consist of human beings, not demographic sectors." The third reads, "Conversations among human beings sound human. They are conducted in a human voice."

I'm sure one could argue calling people stupid sounds human and could be done in a human voice but perhaps it's not a nice thing to do. The next most "stupid" thing to do when you're trying to sell people a product is call them stupid.
